Greening Finance: Climate Change and its Impact on the World’s Financial System (Part I)

On February 3, Toronto Centre held a Fireside Chat at the 30th International Development Week in Ottawa, Canada. The speakers who participated were Timothy Antoine, Governor of Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Nezha Hayat, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of AMMC – Morocco’s Capital Market Authority, Anthony Nyong, Director of Climate Change and Green Growth African Development Bank, and the event was moderated by Christine Hogan, Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Canada.

In support of SDG 13, the speakers discussed the impact of climate risk on financial systems and the role financial supervisors and regulators can play. They also shared their insights and learnings from the activities undertaken with Toronto Centre in their jurisdictions to support the greening of capital markets and the increase of financial system resiliency.
